What It Stands For.
The University of Hongkong, incorporated under the the local University Ordinauice, 1911, and opened in 1912, is a residential University for students of both sexes, the object of which is declared by that Ordinance to be the promotion of Arts, Science nad Learning, the provision of higher education, the conferring of degrees, the development and formation of the character of students of all races, nationaliaties and creeds, and the maintenance of good understanding with the neighbouring country of China, ”
Faculties.
Instruction is provided in the three Faculties of Medicine, Engineering and Arts, In Medicine a five-year course covers the usual pre-medical and mestical sciences and leads to the degrees of M. B., B. S., which (with the higher degrees of M. D., M. S.,) are recognised by the General Medical Council for registration in Great Britain. Clinical facilities are provided in the Governinent Civil, and Tung Wali Hospitals and (as described in a later section) are about to be considerably extended in connection with the Rockefeller benefac- tion.
